Floyd W Steele

About

Floyd W. Steele is a Michigan workers’ compensation attorney committed to protecting the rights of injured workers. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Relations from Central Michigan University in 1988, followed by his Juris Doctor from Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University College of Law).

While working his way through school, Steele held jobs at a GM plant (GM Milford Proving Grounds) and in a warehouse as a member of the Teamsters Warehouse Division. These experiences gave him firsthand insight into the challenges workers face—especially those dealing with workplace injuries. He saw many employees struggle after being hurt on the job, often receiving little support from their employers or insurance companies. During his second year of law school, he decided to focus on helping injured workers navigate these difficult situations.

After law school, while many of his classmates pursued positions at large corporate firms, Steele chose a different path. He joined Davidson, Breen & Doud, P.C., one of Michigan’s most well-known workers’ compensation firms. Over time, he became a leader at the firm, later renaming it Steele & Ferguson, P.C.

Throughout his career, Steele has represented injured workers, advised labor groups and unions, and participated in educational seminars and leadership events. His commitment to Michigan’s working families continues, and he remains focused on ensuring injured workers have the support and advocacy they need.
